Whew. This month was a lot... in the very best way.
We packed more into a few weeks than I thought was humanly possible, and while I am feeling the effects, I honestly don't know what I would have chosen to leave out.
We gathered for our Infinite retreat, where there was plenty of laughter, connection, team building, and an unforgettable pirate themed party and harbor cruise. We had a creative night making EMDR wands together, exercising our creativity and play circuits in ways that reminded me how important fun is for healthy, thriving humans. We spent time at the AZCA Conference sharing Therapist Genie and Infinite Learning with therapists and community members who are passionate about growth and mental health.
At the same time, our personal life was filled with adventure and celebration. We finally made the Catalina cruise with our yacht club community after missing last year while my mom recovered from her transplant. And perhaps the sweetest moment of all was celebrating her 75th birthday, surrounded by friends and gratitude for how far she has come. Watching her regain strength and truly thrive has been nothing short of remarkable.
This month reminded me that sometimes a meaningful life feels both energizing and exhausting. We are often taught to view busyness as something negative, but not all busy seasons are created equal. Some seasons are filled with obligations that drain us. Others are filled with experiences, relationships, and memories that nourish us, even when they leave us tired.
So, if you're feeling a little worn out lately, take a moment to ask yourself: "Am I exhausted because I'm carrying too much, or because I'm living fully?" The answer might help you decide whether you need to let something go or simply pause long enough to appreciate the beautiful life you're creating.
Much Love,
Kelly
What does it look like to keep growing as an EMDR clinician, even after the training is over? In this episode of EMDR Difference Makers, Sarah Jenkins, LPC joins Kelly for an honest and thoughtful conversation about growth, curiosity, and continuing to expand what’s possible in trauma treatment.
Sarah and Kelly talk about what it means to keep learning as a clinician, to stay open to new ideas, and to trust that there’s always room to deepen the work we do with clients. They explore the ways EMDR can continue to evolve alongside us, and why some of the most meaningful growth happens when we’re willing to stay curious rather than feel like we have to have everything figured out.
Whether you’re newer to EMDR or have been doing this work for years, this conversation is a reminder that becoming the clinician you want to be doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through experience, connection, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning.
Join Kelly and Sarah for a warm conversation about EMDR, professional growth, and continuing to discover what might be possible for both us and the people we serve.
